Obituary


Ayden Shackelford, age 5 of Britt passed away Friday, September 5, 2014.

Funeral services for Ayden will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Britt Christian Reformed Church - At The Crossroads Ministries, 569 Main Avenue North in Britt, with Pastor Joel DeBoer officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral services at the church on Monday. 

Ayden, the son of Dustin and Ashley (Seger-Luse) Shackelford was born June 3, 2009 in Katy, Texas.  He was a kindergarten student at West Hancock Elementary School in Britt.

Ayden was a loving and outgoing boy.  He loved swimming, bike riding and spending time with his little sister, Chloe.  He enjoyed working on art projects and making crafts, especially paper airplanes to fly around the house.  He loved reading storybooks at bedtime and playing with his friends at school.  He enjoyed playing soccer and attending soccer matches and baseball games.

Ayden is survived by his parents Ashley Shackelford of Britt and Dustin Shackelford of Houston, Texas; sister Chloe Shackelford of Britt; grandparents: Raymie Luse (Michelle Hildman) of Britt, Christina Seger of Garner, Janet Beier of Houston, Texas, and Jerry Shackelford of Sioux City, Iowa; great-grandparents: Patti Field of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, Bill Luse of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Carol and Diane Theis of Mason City, Iowa, and Merlin and Mary Jo Studer of Wesley, Iowa; Aunts and Uncles: Jakob Luse of Ames, Iowa, Caleb Luse of Britt, Peyton Luse of Britt, Cole Hildman of Algona, Iowa, Loki Seger of Garner, Iowa, Alicia Shackelford of Houston, Texas, Jordan Shackelford of Houston, Texas, Dylan Nelson of Houston, Texas, Victoria (Pat) O’Rourke of Phoenix, Arizona, and David (Leslie) Perrigo of Grimes, Iowa; along with numerous other family members, friends and classmates.

Ayden is preceded in death by great-great grandparents: Richard and Alice Luse, Roger Logue, Lorraine (Cordle) Logue, Hazel Theis, Joe and Marie Buscher, Maude and Herman Studer, cousin Joshua Robert Ringsdorf and great-great aunt Gloria Dorenkamp.
