Barbara J. (Elliott) Hennigar, 87, of Clarion, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Private graveside services will be held. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the enclosed shelter house at Lake Cornelia. Barbara Jean, daughter of Tony and Edith (Bass) Elliott, was born on September 11, 1937 in Webster City. She grew up there until her family moved to Clarion where she attended school. While waitressing in high school, she met Everett "Blacky" Hennigar at the local restaurant. They were united in marriage on April 16,1955 at the United Methodist Church in Clarion. They made their home in Clarion where they raised their five children. Barb worked at various stores and restaurants in Clarion. Over the years, Barb enjoyed going camping. She loved flowers and taking care of her gardens and keeping up with the yard work. In her later years, Barb enjoyed coloring and word puzzles. Barb loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Barb is survived by her children Everett Jr. "Alan" (Karen) Hennigar of Clarion, Steve (Diana) Hennigar of Clarion, Colleen (Richard) Meier of Clarion, and Scott (Tangela) Hennigar of Clarion; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband Blacky in 2023; parents Tony and Edith Elliott; daughter Gail Jensen; granddaughter Amanda Meier Stracke; and siblings Ray, Les, Harold, and Helen.
