Obituary


"Beatrice" Joyce Nelson, 75, of Britt, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Beatice Joyce Nelson, the daughter of Charles and Beatrice (Hancock) Beasley, was born February 2, 1926, in Reading, England.  She grew up in England where she received her education.

During the war years Joyce met Raymond Nelson at her mother's tea shop in England.  The couple was united in marriage on October 27, 1945, at St. Mary's Butts Cathedral in England. Joyce arrived in the United States in April of 1946, and the couple has since resided in Britt.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dogs and her cats.  She loved writing; needlepoint, and her flower garden.

Joyce was a member of the Britt United Congregational Church where she sang in the church choir.  She participated in the Hancock County Little Theater productions and Christmas Choir, and the North Iowa Choral Society.  Joyce was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Joyce is survived by her husband Raymond of Britt; four daughters: Ripple and her husband, Keith Van Engen of Des Moines, Ava Nelson of Palm Harbor, Florida, Lissa and her husband, Michael Honken of Waukee, and Rita and her husband, Steven Fett of Wesley; 4 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Charles Raymond, and a twin brother in infancy.
