Bernard 'Chris' Christensen, age 95, of Blaine, Minnesota, formerly of Eagle
Grove, died peacefully Sunday, December 6, 2020.
A funeral gathering will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00
PM at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Highway 65 North East in Fridley, Minnesota.
Visitation for Chris Christensen will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020
from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion,
followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove at 2:30 PM. Due to
current COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at visitation will be limited to 15
indoors and 30 outdoors at a time.
Chris was the son of Bernard and Alice (Jensen) Christensen. He was born in
Colfax, Wisconsin where he lived for 13 years before the family returned to
Eagle Grove, Iowa where he attended Eagle Grove High School before joining and
proudly serving his country during World War II as the acting Chief Electrician
aboard the USS Ebert.
While attending the University of Minnesota for some electrical training, he met
Pearl Rogers during a blind date. The two were united in marriage in 1944 and
were together until her passing in 2012.
Chris built wood boats for Lugar Marine and in 1963 he started his company,
Christy's Welding, and continued to weld until the age of 91 when he retired.
Chris had a passion for flying airplanes, fishing and hunting.
Chris is preceded in death by his wife Pearl.
Chris is survived by his three sons, Michael Christensen (Jan), Terry
Christensen (fiancée Jeanne) and Todd Christensen (Cindy); grandchildren, Shelly
Byers (Paul), Angie Carr (Derick), Erica Thompson (Kevin), Nate (fiancée Kim),
Kayla Bleifuss (Joe), Shelby (fiancée Kelly), Michael, Angie Martineau and Cory
Martineau; great grandchildren, Gavin, Tyson, Malania, Emmy, Tristan, Jacob and
Anna. Sister-in-law Judy Rogers, Juanita, Donna; brother-in-law Arthur Rogers
and Gene Rogers; Niece Sherry Pfeiffer (Pete); great nieces Kari and Crissy;
Nephews Ron Rogers and Greg Rogers.
