Bernice was born July 1, 1931 in Lowden, Iowa to Lawrence and Emma (Christiansen) Linn, the family later moved to Eagle Grove where she attended school. She worked for a Model Cleaner and as a waitress at a Drive-Inn in Eagle Grove.

Following his discharge from the Army they moved back to Iowa and worked on several farms in the Eagle Grove, Kanawha and Belmond areas. They settled in the Belmond area in the early 1960’s.

Bernice lived her life as a housewife doing what she enjoyed the most; baking and making meals for the family, and making old time thrasher style meals for the crews that helped with shelling corn and baling hay and straw.  Her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren.
