Bertha Josephine Jesse, 87, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 1996, at the Westview Care Center in Britt. Bertha, the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Omvig) Brown, was born August 18, 1908 in Britt, Iowa.  She attended country school in the Britt area. On September 29, 1928, she was united in marriage with George W. Jesse in Britt, Iowa.  The couple started farming in the Corwith and Wesley areas then in the Titonka area until 1971, when they retired and moved to Britt.  Bertha is remembered as a cheerful lady.  She loved tending to her flower gardens and she enjoyed baking.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  Bertha was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was a member of the Women of Church. Bertha is survived by two daughters, Joy and her husband, Donald Nelson of Clear Lake, Iowa; and Marilyn and her husband, Harold Heesch of Titonka, Iowa; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Gunderson of Garner, Iowa; Rosetta Aitchison of Ventura, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Junice Brown of Leland, Iowa; Beulah Jesse of Albert Lea, Minnesota; one brother-in-law, Ted Weiland of Britt, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son- Norman, a sister- Sadie Formanek, a brother John Brown, and one great-grandchild.
