Obituary


Bessie (Betty) Delger, 90, of Clarion passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 at USA Health Care Center in Clarion.

Funeral services for Bessie Delger will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion with Pastor Gary Boen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00p.m. Monday June 4, 2007 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home 602 North Main and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Betty was born June 28, 1916 in Wright County, Iowa. Her proud parents were Charles B. Anderson and Elizabeth Ann (Thompson) Anderson.

Betty grew up on a farm near Clarion with her parents and five brothers and six sisters.

Betty was united in marriage to Henry Delger on February 25, 1933. Betty and Henry started their married life together farming near Kanawha and later near Clarion. To this union two children were born, a son, Robert and a daughter, Sharon. Betty and Henry were married almost 74 years before Henry’s death in January 2007.

Betty loved taking care of her family and home. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She possessed a keen ability to grow a bountiful garden and beautiful flowers. She never stopped caring for those things she loved. Betty lived independently in her home until she had an accident while tending to her flowers. She spent the last three weeks of her life in the Clarion hospital and health care center.

Betty was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Clarion and The Good Neighbor Club of Grant Township.

She is survived by her son, Robert and his wife, Beverly; three grandchildren, Connie(Delger) Kriener and her husband, Marvin, David Delger and his wife, Patti, Tonia (Delger)Nemechck; eight great grandchildren, Heidi, Chris, and Craig Kriener, David Delger and his wife, Alex, Matthew and Stephen Delger, Katren Delger and Crystal Nemechck; two great-great grandchildren, Tristessa Ross and Kdon Silvus.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, mother, father, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, a granddaughter, and a great grandson.

She will be missed by all of her family and friends.
