Betty June White was born April 8, 1923 to Lewis and Sadie (Carpenter) White on the family farm near Galt. Betty attended country schools through the 8th grade, before attending and graduating from Clarion High School with the Class of 1940.

Betty was united in marriage to Maurice Lynn Morford on March 5, 1943 in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in rural Clarion, and to this union, children Jim and Carol were born.

Following high school graduation, Betty worked as a legal secretary for G.R. Hill in Clarion and Des Moines, until Maurice returned from the service in 1945.

Betty began working in the Wright County Courthouse in 1955, and later worked for Ben Birdsall at Archerd, Birdsall and Draheim in Clarion. In the early 1960s, Betty began working for First National Bank until her retirement. She later worked at Willim Funeral Home, helping with visitations and funeral services.

Betty was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Clarion. She was active in the church and in the senior Sunday school group.

Betty was a genuinely loving person. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and with members of the Clarion community. She had an outgoing personality, and enjoyed being out in public, whether with the other Golden Girls at Clarmond Country Club, at church or on shopping trips with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, most notably, her trips to Seattle, Alaska and Arizona.

Betty is survived by her children, Jim (Janice) Morford of Clarion and Carol “Bobbi” (Dwight) Tyrrell of Belmond; grandchildren Ben Morford of Clarion, Joe Morford of Clarion, Ryan Morford of Cedar Rapids and Sara Morford of Cedar Falls; sister-in-law Jeanette White of Iowa Falls; and special loving friends Pam Brockman and Ev Keller of Clarion; along with other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice in 1985 and brother Carrol White.
