Betty Mae (Wise) Smith, the daughter of Walter and Elva (Rhett) Wise was born on June 29, 1933 in Jamestown, Arkansas. She was their only daughter of six children.

The family moved to Missouri where Betty met and fell in love with Warnie Smith. The couple was married in Piggott, Arkansas because at age of 16 Betty couldn’t be married in the state of Missouri.

The couple moved to Iowa in 1952 and settled in Bettendorf, Iowa. Betty was a housewife and mother prior to the start of the family cabinet making business. She worked side by side with Warnie and son Dan at B&B Kitchens until the late 1990’s.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was an exceptional cook. The family fought over her homemade biscuits. She loved music and singing with her family around the piano in their home. Betty will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Valley General Baptist Church in Bettendorf was an important part in Betty’s life. She was a charter member and was very active in their mission’s group.

Betty is survived by her husband Warnie; children Danny W (Edna Mae) Smith of Bonita Springs, Florida, Brenda (Dan) Smith of Britt, Iowa, James (Kathy) Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Dr. Samuel Smith (James R. McClure) of Tucson, Arizona; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, five brothers, and one grand dog, Higgins.
