Obituary


Beverly Ann (Hoeft) Mayland, 81, of Britt passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services for Beverly Mayland will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, 70 Fifth Avenue NW in Britt, with Pastor Norm Bauer officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Beverly Ann, the daughter of Harold and Izora (Schultz) Hoeft, was born June 22, 1933 in Forest City.  She grew up on the family farm and attended and graduated from Forest City School.

On March 31, 1951 Beverly was united in marriage to Lewis Mayland.  They started their married life together in Britt where she was a member of First Lutheran Church.

She worked at the Super Valu grocery store, owned and operated the Britt Laundromat, and also worked at First State Bank in Britt.  Beverly loved to sew, making a lot of clothing, and doing crafts. She loved to cook especially for Sunday dinners and holidays. She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, loved going to Las Vegas and enjoyed golf.  She entered Westview Care Center on February 15, 2012.

Beverly is survived by her children, Nancy (Daryl) Beenken of Woden, and Keith (Cindy) Mayland of Britt, son-in-law David Helman of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Brandon (Emily) Beenken, Sara (Dale) Meinders, Melissa (Ron) Abele, Nathan (Kym) Mayland, Ryan Mayland, Marcy Mayland, Emily (fiancé Tom Stoffel) Helman; 9 great grandchildren; sister Dee (Jim) Cook; brothers: Randy (Delaine) Hoeft and Mark (Sue) Hoeft; in-laws: Margie Hoeft, Ina Mayland and Henry Gremmer along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis in 1984; daughter Wanda Helman in 1997; her parents; sister Shirley Mae in infancy; two brothers Jim and Denny; her in-laws: Bonnie Hoeft and Lester Welch; and Lewis’ family of Herman, Walbert, William, Jeannette, Ben, Donald, Ernest, Erlene, Marie Ann, Engaline and Helen.
