Billie E. Cloud, 89, of Britt passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Hancock
County Health System in Britt.
Memorial services for Billie Cloud will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at
10:30 AM at the Britt United Methodist Church, 707 4th Street South West in
Britt, with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Britt Ceremonial Honor Guard will
provide military honors.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Ewing
Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, and continue one hour prior to
services at the church on Friday.
Billie (Bill) Eugene Cloud was born June 25, 1933, to Richard and Dorthey Cloud
in Numa, Iowa.
Bill grew up on a farm near Centerville and attended a rural grade school, as a
boy he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Growing up he worked
in the coal mines after school. As a young adult he joined the Army and served
30 years honorably. During his time in the Army he lived in Japan, Africa, Asia,
and Germany. He graduated from Las Cruces A & M, MIT Computer Science,
Minneapolis Honeywell Computer Hardware, and Hughes Aircraft aerospace
Laboratories. He worked at White Sands Missile range working on the missile
guidance systems. After he retired, he worked for Heritage Cooperation in Des
Moines, Iowa as the Director of Engineering. In Centerville he worked as Deputy
Sheriff for 9 years.
He married Geraldine Proffitt on March 13, 1954, in Unionville, Missouri. He was
blessed with 4 children, Curtis, Cheryl, Charles, and Chris. He met his
significant other, Jean Perkins, in 2003. Bill has traveled extensively. He
enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved his western movies. He was an avid reader
of the Bible. He would help anyone he could.
Left to cherish his memory is his Significant other Jean; Children Curtis Cloud
(Mary), Cheryl O'Conner (John), Chris Cloud (April), and step daughter Jodi
Petersen(Dave); and all his grandchildren. He was preceded by his son Chuck, his
mother and father Richard and Dorthey Cloud and his sister Ruth
