Obituary


Billie D. Pigman, age 84, of Crystal Lake passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his home.

Funeral services for Billie Pigman will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Britt with Pastor Lee Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt and continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Billie D. Pigman, the son of Robert and Alta (Slawson) Pigman, was born October 16, 1924 in Lehigh, Iowa. The family later moved to Corwith. He attended school in Corwith, Hayfield and Britt; graduating from Britt High School in 1943. Following graduation, Billie entered the Army and served in the 183rd Ordinance from 1943 to 1946.

Billie was united in marriage to Phyllis Draves on June 9, 1948. The couple made their home and farmed near Crystal Lake. They were blessed with four children.

Billie enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.

Billie is survived by his wife Phyllis; four children: Diane (Jon) Taylor of Bullhead City, Arizona, Paul (Vicki) Pigman of Britt, Iowa, Donna Pigman of Dumont, Iowa and William Pigman of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Chris (Susan) Perkins, Charity Pigman, Josh Carter, Alana Perkins, Michael Pigman, Becky Pigman, Sara Pigman, Jacquie Pigman and Tony Pigman; great grandchildren: Natalie Baker and Macoy Perkins; three sisters: Marilee Strasser of Mason City, Iowa, Lois Bauer of Garner, Iowa and Doris Montgomery of Fort Dodge, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
