Brian David Reed, the son of Warren and Ruth (Hanson) Reed, was born March 23, 1955 in Clarion.  Brian grew up on a farm outside of Eagle Grove, where he loved to play pranks on his seven siblings. Brian graduated from Eagle Grove High school with the class of 1974.

After high school, he worked at Oldson’s plumbing while attending night school to obtain his accounting degree. In 1976 Brian married Diane McCart, to this union two sons were born, Michael and Mitchell.   The couple later divorced.  Brian decided he loved the ocean and moved to Florida where he met Rena Lanning.  The couple married and had one son, Christopher.  Brian and Christopher moved back to Eagle Grove in 1994 when he started working for Reed Construction.

In his free time, Brian loved anything that involved nature.  He enjoyed fishing, watching birds, taking pictures (especially sunsets), collecting sand dollars, and he loved his garden.  He had a green thumb and a very successful vegetable garden, mostly of which he shared with family and friends.  He also listened to AM talk radio and tuned in to Rush Limbaugh every day.

Brian lived a simple life and was a quiet man, except when he had a quick witted joke.  Despite having a rough start, he overcame a lot within the last two years. He was a hard worker, and would do anything for anyone without asking for anything in return.

Brian is survived by his sons Christopher (Hannah Stevens) Reed of Eagle Grove, Michael (Nicole) Reed and Mitchell (Kristine) Reed of Ankeny; eight grandchildren; siblings Donald (Jan) Reed, Dennis (Denise) Reed, Kevin (Julie) Reed, Melia (Steve) Asche, Brenda Reed, Lori (Jerry) Kloberdanz, Brent Reed; along with many nieces and nephews; and step-mother Mildred Reed.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
