Brian was born February 15, 1958, the son of Pete and Henrietta Baker of Britt, Iowa.  He loved helping his father on the family farm located south of Britt, which he later took over running. He graduated from Britt High School in 1976.

He later met his best friend, Melissa “Missy” Upenieks, and in June 1986 they were united in marriage.  They were blessed with three children: Matthew (July 17, 1984), Brooke (September 3, 1988), and Brandon (September 10, 1990).

Brian worked at Smidley (the former Martings) Manufacturing for 33 years, and he delivered the Globe Gazette to rural homes for over 20 years.  Brian also loved watching the races especially when his son Matt was on the track.  Brian spent his free time hunting and watching sports, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his five grandchildren.

One of Brian’s best attributes was his willingness to help anyone in need.  Day or night, if he received a call for help, he was doing whatever he could to assist.  Brian never met a stranger who didn’t soon become a friend.

Brian is survived by his three children: Matthew (Kaitlin) Baker of Britt, Brooke Peacock of Watford City, North Dakota, and Brandon (Candace) Baker of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; five grandchildren: Natalie, Dillan, Denyon, Victoria, Damick, and many other family and friends who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, his sister Shirley Battleson, and best friend Melissa.
