C. Gifford Holm

Gifford Holm, 93, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Funeral services for Giff Holm will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Holmes Lutheran Church, 2139 Hancock Avenue in rural Clarion, with Pastor Rich Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation for Giff Holm will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Gifford was born October 21, 1924 to Ephraim and Ruth (Brooks) Holm in Belmond. He attended high school in Renwick, graduating with the Class of 1942.

Giff was united in marriage with Lois Tice at the home where he still resided, east of Lake Cornelia. He farmed until retiring in 2009 at the age of 84.

Giff was a longtime member of the Clarion Church of Christ. He recently joined Holmes Lutheran Church where his grandfather was once Pastor.

Giff enjoyed music. He played violin and sang in a gospel quartet in the 1950s and in the church choir. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and fulfilled his lifelong dream to build his own plane, the Cornelia Sport.

Giff is survived by his daughter Sally Meyer of Fromberg, Montana; grandchildren Ben Meyer of Joliet, Montana and Emily (Joed) Holmes of Grand Saline, Texas; his special companion Ella Gangestad and her family; special friends and caretakers Steve and Deb Janssen and their family; along with many friends.

Giff was preceded in death by his wife Lois in 2010 and his son-in-law Douglas Meyer.
