Obituary


Carl Westin, 77, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Kanawha, passed away Friday, February 11, 2000 at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge with the Rev. Ron Kitterman, of Friendship Haven officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha with military rites under the direction of the American Legion Services Post 77.  Services will also be held at 2;30 PM Tuesday at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, Kanawha, with the Rev. Susan Detwiler officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Monday at Gunderson Funeral Chapel, Fort Dodge.  The family will be present from 5 to 7 PM on Monday.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services on Monday at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, Kanawha.

Carl J. Westin was born January 14, 1923, at Kanawha.  He was reared and educated in Kanawha and attended township country schools.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On November 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Shelton at Pine City, Minnesota.  He was a retired employee of Celotex.

Carl is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children Jacqueline Reider of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Deborah Olsen of Winchester, Kentucky, John Westin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Mitch Westin and Scot Westing of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandmother.
