Obituary


Carolyn Sheets, 74, of Burt passed away Monday, August 14, 2006 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

Carolyn, the daughter of George and Annie (Jurgensen) Campbell, was born September 21, 1931, at Corwith.  She attended school in Corwith graduating from Corwith High School in 1950.  Following graduation from high school, Carolyn attended St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota where she received her LPN nursing degree.

On February 3, 1952, Carolyn was united in marriage with Charles S. Sheets in Corwith.  The couple was blessed with four children; Leon, Joyce, Calvin, and Ester.

Charles and Carolyn began married life together in Rolla, Missouri as Charles completed his service in the army.  They then moved to the Crystal Lake and Hutchins area where they worked together farming until Charles' death in 1986.  Charles and Carolyn enjoyed polka dancing.

Following her husband's death, Carolyn worked with children with disabilities Forest City; moving to Burt in 1987 to work at Exceptional Opportunities until her retirement in 2001.

Carolyn loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school and 4-H events.  She enjoyed gardening, observing nature's wonders, and traveling.  One of her favorite trips was to Alaska and one of the most memorable found her in Boston with classmates on 9/11/2001.  Another interest for her was her collection of Campbell's memorabilia.

Carolyn is survived by three children: Leon Sheets and his wife, Barbara of Ionia, Joyce Charlson and her husband, David of Clarion, and Ester Nelson and her husband, Bruce of New Brighton, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Jarrod Sheets, Justina Sheets, Austin Charlson and wife, Angela, Everett Charlson and his wife, Katy, Daniel Nelson, Natalie Nelson and Michael Nelson; one brother, Wayne Campbell and his wife Virginia of Rock Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Merle in infancy; husband, Charles and son, Calvin.
