Obituary


Carrie Luppen, 88, of Britt passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at the Westview Care Center.

Carrie, the daughter of Hemme J. and Gepke (Carrie) Hemmen, was born May 31, 1912, Aplington, Iowa.  Gepke (Carrie) Hemmen was bapitzed at the Butler Reformed Church in Aplington on August 10, 1915.  She grew up in Butler County where she received her education.  Carrie helped raise her brothers and sisters, and later moved to the Woden area where she was employed by area families.

Carrie was united in marriage with Will Luppen at the Kanawha Christian Church pasonage, on February 22, 1933, by Rev. Plesscher.  The couple made their home in the was a former employee of Britt Tech, Hancock County Memorial Hosptial, and Westview Care Center, her main vocation was caring for others.

Carrie was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Britt.

Carrie is survived by one son, Bill Luppen and his wife, Janet of Garner; two daughters: Carolyn Lamoreux and her husband, Dennis of Britt and Janet Sundeen and her husband, Dale of Golden, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband Will, her parents, infant son Roger Keith, three brothers: Kobie, Heye, and Hemme; three sisters: Dena ValLengen, Grace Brower, and Martha Hook; two siblings in infancy; four great-grandchildren: Joshua Sundeen, Courtney Lamoreux, Eric Pendegrass, and Logan Lamoreux.
