Kirsten "Cassie" Lubkeman, 94, of Coulter, passed away Tuesday, January 25,
2005, at Franklin General Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa.
Funeral services for Cassie Lubkeman will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2005,
at 2:00 PM at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa with Pastor Mary
Peterson officiating. Burial will take place at the Coulter Cemetery in Coulter.
Visitation for Cassie Lubkeman will be held on Friday, January 28, 2005, from
5:00 –7:00 PM at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 320 East Street, in
Latimer and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Cassie (Krabbe) Lubkeman was born on November 2, 1910, in Boddum, Denmark, to
Laurits and Christine (Madsen) Krabbe. She came to the United States with her
family at the age of 4, entering Ellis Island in 1915. She and her family took a
train to Coulter, Iowa where they made their home and began farming.
Cassie attended country school in Franklin County. She worked in Albert Lea and
Minneapolis, Minnesota, before moving back to Coulter. On February 23, 1932, she
was united in marriage to Clarence Lubkeman at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in
Coulter. The couple farmed north of Latimer, retiring in 1972 when they moved to
their present home in Coulter.
Cassie was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday
school and was a member of the women's auxiliary. She was also a member of the
Coulter Cemetery Society. Cassie always had her door open and loved being
surrounded by her family and friends. Guests were always welcome for coffee, a
cookie and a visit.
Cassie is survived by her two daughters: Kathryn "Kaye" Christensen and her
husband Paul of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Maxine Scott and her husband Chuck of
Council Bluffs; her daughter-in-law: Jane Lubkeman of Omaha, Nebraska; seven
grandchildren: Lori Lester and her husband Jeff of Moline, Illinois, Roy
Lubkeman and his wife Wendy of Hawarden, Michael Christensen and his wife Amy of
Omaha, Nebraska, Mark Christensen and his wife Sheila of Phoenix, Arizona,
Timothy Christensen and his wife Karla of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeffrey Scott and
his wife Andrea of Evergreen, Colorado, and Dana Scott and his wife Ashley of
Denver, Colorado; 8 great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Luke, Jessica, Ashley, Taylor,
Olivia, Sam and Shayne; brother: James Krabbe of Latimer; sister: Helen Dodd of
Phoenix, Arizona; along with nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence in 1995; son, Duane;
sister, Pauline; and three brothers: Herluf, Raymond and Kenneth.
