Cecelia "Celia" Roskamp, 93, of Kanawha, Iowa passed away Saturday, October 23,
2010 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.
Funeral services for Celia Roskamp will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at
10:30 AM at the Kanawha Lutheran Church in Kanawha with Pastor Lee Nelson
officiating. Burial will take place at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Ewing Funeral
Home, 118 East Second Street, in Kanawha and will continue one hour prior to the
service at the church.
Cecelia Clarice Roskamp, the daughter of Abel and Mary (Fosen) Omvig, was born
on January 31, 1917 on the family farm near Kanawha. She attended rural school
and was confirmed in the Kanawha Lutheran Church.
Celia was united in marriage to Carl Roskamp on October 9, 1940 at the Little
Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed around Belmond from 1942 until Carl's
death on May 15, 1986. Celia then moved into Kanawha in 1987 and entered the
Community Home in 2007. Celia was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church. She
loved to bake, especially her kringlas, and do her housework. Celia took great
pride in raising African Violets.
Celia is survived by her sister Mabel Peterson of Britt; sister-in-law Marjorie
Omvig of Kanawha; brothers-in-law Bernard (Marg) Roskamp of Clarion and Gene
(Lois) Roskamp of Rock Island, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Joe, Oren, John and
Art; and three sisters: Alice, Oviedia and Synneva.
