Obituary


Charles “Chuck” LeRoy Olk, 71 of Clarion formerly of Latimer, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services for Chuck will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 204 E. South Street in Latimer.  Burial will take place at Marion Center Cemetery rural Latimer. 

Visitation for Chuck will be held from 9:30 - 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the church.

Charles LeRoy Olk was born November 23, 1945 to Joe and Inez (Muhlenbruck) Olk in Hampton, Iowa.  Chuck was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Freese on August 22, 1965 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa.

Chuck held many jobs in the Latimer area including Henning Construction, Latimer Locker, DJ Feeds along with two other local elevators and CAL Community School.

He was a member of the Iowa National Guard for nine years.�� He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ for his entire life.     He was a 43 year member of the Latimer Fire Department.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, spending time with his kids, grandkids, attending his grandkids sporting events and spent many hours driving the gravel roads of both Franklin and Wright Counties.

Chuck is survived by his wife Sandy, son Scott (Becky) Olk of Estherville, daughter Holly (Steve) Martin of Clarion; grandchildren Zach and Alec Martin; along with two sisters, Beverly (Dale) Nielsen of Clear Lake and Joan (Don) Pralle of Latimer and one brother James (JoAnn) Olk of Phoenix, Arizona; brother-in-law Jim Jensen of Hampton, Iowa, sister-in-law Cathy (Tom) Hensel of Atkins, Iowa and brother-in-law Rick (Donna) Freese.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marilyn Jensen.
