Obituary


Charles “Chuck” Harris Lackore, 67, of Clarion, passed away Monday December 24, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 28, 2007 at 1:00PM at United Methodist Church in Clarion with Pastor Don Morrison officiating.  Visitation for Charles "Chuck" Lackore will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Clarion.  Charles Harris, the son of Harris and Hazel Pringle Lackore, was born on April 10, 1940 in Forest City, Iowa. He attended Hayfield schools. In High School Chuck excelled in baseball and basketball. He received recognition as a first team all state basketball player. He also played in the band. Chuck graduated from Hayfield schools in 1958. He then attended the Eagle Grove Junior College, where he also excelled in sports. Chuck was united in marriage to Peggy Strain on June 3, 1961 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Chuck and Peggy’s marriage was grounded in their religion. Every day of their married life began with prayer and devotions. Chuck worked for the Chicago North Western Railroad where he was a Yard Master. They raised their family and lived in Eagle Grove.   Later, Chuck would also work and live in Chicago and St. Louis. After 38 years with the railroad Chuck and Peggy retired to Clarion. Chuck loved his family, sports, and music. He along with his brother Marvin would entertain people musically at Nursing Homes in the area. He was one who mixed with all the people. He loved to golf and play cards with his friends from Hayfield and Garner. Chuck was very proud of his three children and eight grand children. He wanted to be involved in all facets of his kid’s activities. His family treasured their relationships and remember him as a man of quiet strength. Chuck is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Kristal Anderson and husband Gary of Clarion; son Charles Edward and wife Diane of Polk City; and daughter Pamela Maxhiemer of Clarion. He had eight grandchildren, Jenna, Jillian, and Jacey Anderson; Jonathan, Jared, and Erik Lackore; Lucas and Noah Maxheimer. He had one brother Marvin and wife Cleola of Garner. He had five nieces Peggy Domingeuz and husband Leo of Arizona; Nancy Kaduce and husband Rick of Rockford; Jill Schott and husband Dennis of Garner; Doris Dallman and husband Kurt of Garner; Sally Bergman and husband Dave of Britt; and one nephew Roger Larson of Arizona. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings in infancy, Melvin, Donald, and Audrey; sister Arivlla Larson; and nephew Harris “Skip” Lackore.
