Obituary
Charles D. Gordon, 74, of Crystal Lake, Iowa passed away Saturday, February 24, 2001, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Charles Duane Gordon, the son of Walter and Lela (Friedow) Gordon was born November 13, 1926 in Britt, Iowa. He grew up in the Britt and Crystal Lake area and attended Crystal Lake Schools. Charles later entered the United States Army and served his country from February 20, 1945 until November 28, 1946.
Following his discharge from the Army he was employed in the Britt area for many years. He was also employed as an over the road truck driver.
Charles was united in marriage with Kay Curran on May 13, 1960, at the Lutheran Church in Britt. The couple made their home in Britt.
Charles was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britt. He was also a member of the Britt American Legion Post #315. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Lisa Short and her husband, Jeff of Garner; two grandchildren: Abby and Jeffrey; and special friend, Kay Gordon of Britt, even though the couple divorced, they remained good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Russell, and one sister, Ines.
