Obituary


Charles Ward, 80, of Britt passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Ward will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street South East in Britt with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery near Duncan. 

Visitation will held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.   

Charles David Ward the son of Arthur and Rose (Drabek) Ward, was born May 16, 1936 in Algona Iowa.  The family moved to a farm south east of Britt in 1944.  After a couple years the family then moved to the Whittemore, Iowa area until Charles’  father passed away 1951, at which time they returned to Britt.  Charles graduated from Britt High School in 1955.

Charles was employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City for 27 ½ years; 17 ½ he drove a bus for Winnebago.

Charles was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt, where he was also a member of the Knight’s of Columbus and Catholic Workmen.

Charles is survived by one sister, Betty Bistline of Plymouth; 3 brothers: Gene (JoDee) Ward of Garner, Warren (Donna Banta) Ward of Garner, Doug (Lois) Ward of Cedar Rapids; special niece and caregiver Dawn Ward; special nephew Brian Ward; along with numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Roger and wife Lois and Richard and wife Doneen; and brother-in-law John Bistline.
