Charles A. Kapka, 71, of Dows, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019, at his
home in Dows.
Funeral services for Charles Kapka will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December
20, 2019 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Pastor
Laurel Meester officiating. All are welcome for fellowship at the Rowan
Community Center for refreshments following the funeral service.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM prior to services at the funeral home on
Friday.
Flowers or contributions may be made to the estate of Charles Kapka for a
memorial.
Charles Alvin Kapka of Dows, IA passed away in his home at the age of 71.
Charles was born to Lyle and Maxine Kapka in Cresco, Iowa. He spent most of his
childhood near Rowan and graduated from Clarion High School. Charles attended
the University of Iowa and then moved back to the Clarion area before settling
on a farm outside of Dows. It was on the farm where he spent his time raising
his children, tending livestock, and working on projects. Charles worked at
Urness Hardware and Hagie. He enjoyed reading, gardening, horses, and spending
time with his grandchildren. He was a kind and caring person who was always
there to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Charles is survived by his children,
Lisa Oberbroeckling of Westfield, Indiana and her children Piper and Paisley,
Brian (Kathryn) Kapka of Dows, Iowa and their children Adalynn, Ava, and Austin,
sister Mary (LaVerne) Hadley of Hampton, Iowa, sister Karen (Richard) Genzman of
Galion, Ohio, brother David (Cheryl) Kapka of Garner, and brother Lyle (Brenda)
Kapka of Clarion, Iowa along with other extended family and friends.
