Charles Edgar Lynde, Lt. Col., US Army (Retired), 86, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed into eternity on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the Meservey Cemetery, 2496 Balsam Avenue rural Meservey, Iowa. Lt. Col. Lynde was born January 27, 1936, in Sibley, Iowa, to Clarence and Dorothy (Davis) Lynde. After graduating from Wheaton College (IL), he entered the US Army, receiving the Bronze Star Medal for service to his country in the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he worked for 25 years in the comptroller's office of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois. In 1999, he lost his wife, Elizabeth Emilie (Lemke) Lynde, to cancer. He married Scarlett Janet (Hardy) Sheats on December 12, 2004. Lt. Col. Lynde is preceded in death by his parents; beloved first wife, Elizabeth Emilie (Lemke) Lynde; and step-granddaughter, Sitara Grace Smith. He is survived by his devoted wife, Scarlett Janet (Hardy) Lynde; his children, Chuck (Andrea) Lynde, Steve (Chris) Lynde, Lisa Lynde; his step-children, Wallace (Debra) Sheats, Jr., Dianna (Ed) Triplett, Jacqueline (Bret) Smith, Jonathan (Julie) Sheats, and Robert Sheats; grandchildren, Diana, Amalia, Cameron, Emilie, Benjamin, Victor, Margo, Stella, Natalie, and Matthew; step-grandchildren, Eric, Lane, Rhiannon, Sarah Jo, Jay, Christina, Brian, Ethan, Alan, Kressant, Rachel, Bethany, Madara, Arman, Wallace, Joshua, Yerik, Madisen, Daniel, Lillian, Owen; and many great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Mowell Funeral Home, 200 Robinson Road, Peachtree City, Georgia.
