Charlotte Lucile Hunsley was born on March 18, 1915 in Britt, Iowa to Charsty
and Henry E. Anderson the third of eight children. She grew up on the family
homestead northwest of Britt.
She attended Britt Schools, first in a one-room school, Orthel #6 near the
family farm and later graduated from high school in Britt. She graduated from
Britt Junior College and Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Charlotte married a local businessman, Lee Hunsley. They were married 54 years
until his death in September of 1995.
Charlotte and Lee raised two sons, Mark and Doug Hunsley. Mark and his wife
Nancy, have three children and live in the Twin Cities area. Doug and his wife,
Connie have three children and live in Texas.
Charlotte taught in the Britt School System between 30 and 40 years, first in
the one-room school two miles north of where she grew up. (We've all heard of
the two-mile winter walks and starting the barrel stove for heat.) After her
marriage, she moved into town and taught in the Britt town schools. She taught
multiple generations of families still residents of the Britt area.
She was a member of the Britt Evangelical Free Church for more than 50 years and
served the church and her Lord in many different capacities during these years.
She lived in the Britt area her entire life until she moved to an assisted
living center in Edina, Minnesota in January of 1998. She died in the Edina
Care Center on February 2, 2000 attaining the age of 84 years, 10 months, 16
days.
She is survived by her two sons, six grandchildren, and one grandchild. Also
surviving are one brother Norman, and five sisters; Mildred, Florence, Hazel,
Blanche, and Marlys and numerous niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Parents, and one brother Donald.
She will be missed by her family and many friends.
