Obituary


Charlotte Trulson, 87, of Britt passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services for Charlotte Trulson will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Britt Christian Reformed Church - At The Crossroads Ministries, 569 Main Avenue North in Britt, with Pastor Joel DeBoer officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Britt Christian Reformed Church - At The Crossroads Ministries, 569 Main Avenue North in Britt, and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Charlotte Irene Trulson was born on February 12, 1927, at Hutchins, Iowa, to Catherine and Loyal Hughes.  She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Harry Houdeshell.

On June 19, 1943, she was married to James A. Trulson.  They were married for 71 years, having four children, a daughter and three sons. Charlotte worked at Nebraska Food Packaging Co for 7 ½ years, and also helped for many years in her husband’s business until she was no longer able to work.

Charlotte was affectionately known as “Granny” by her family and friends.  Charlotte had many collections, including owls, angels, dolls, and stuffed animals.  She enjoyed her weekly shopping trips to Walmart, eating Chinese food, and watching old western movies.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James;  her sons Dr. Michael (Violet) Trulson of Richardson, Texas; J. Patrick (Debra) Trulson of Britt, and Timothy  (Holly) Trulson of Bondurant, Iowa; son-in-law Marvin Hillenga of Britt.  She is also survived by grandchildren  Candi Harringa, Taffy Hillenga, and Shane (Diane) Hillenga all of Des Moines; Dr. Tamella Trulson, Tony (Lori) Trulson, and Sarah (Josh) St. John, all of Texas; Justin (Beth) Trulson of Janesville,  Jessica Trulson of Clear Lake, Daniel Trulson (Nicole Coppinger) of Britt; Tabetha Patterson (Derrek Mann) of North Dakota; and Broderick, Elizabeth, and Benjamin Trulson all of Bondurant, Iowa. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Linda Hillenga, and two infant granddaughters, Penny Hillenga and Tracie Trulson.
