Christian A. Bunk, 81, of Renwick passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the
Kanawha Community Home.
Funeral services for Christian Bunk will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at
11:00 AM at the Renwick Baptist Church, 108 South Montgomery Street in Renwick,
with Reverend David Smith officiating. Burial will be held in the Wright
Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in rural Kanawha.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Christian Abner Bunk was born in Renwick on April 17, 1936 to Lucas and Dora
(Pogge) Bunk. He was raised northeast of Renwick where he helped his father farm
until he retired. Chris, then, took over the farming operation.
Christian met his wife Marie Eekhoff and the two were married at the Kanawha
Christian Reformed Church on December 27, 1975.
He loved his family as well as attending and supporting them with their
activities. He also loved farming and raising animals; he was a farmer through
and through.
Chris worked for the ASCS office measuring conservation land for farmers to many
years. He also served on the Board of Boone Valley Electric Company for many
years and was very involved in the church where he served on the board and
taught Sunday School.
Christian is survived by his wife Marie of Renwick, Iowa; children Samuel Bunk
of Klemme, Iowa, and Lisa (Joshua) Moore and their son Ethan of Pearland, Texas;
sister Alice Heitland of Thornton, Iowa; sisters-in-law Edna Peterson of
Kanawha, Iowa, Ella Josten of Ventura, Iowa, Esther (Ray) Helps of Garner, Iowa,
Ida Eekhoff of Kanawha, Iowa, Lois (Doug) Ward of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Christian is preceded in death by his parents; sister Maxine Fischer;
brothers-in-law Roger Heitland, Bill Fischer, Don Eliason, Don Engh, Dorance
Baack, and Calvin Josten; and sisters-in-law Vi Eliason, Mildred Engh, and Janet
Baack.
