Cletus Hejlik, 63, passed away Saturday, September 18, 1993 at 9:45 P.M. at St.
Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
He was born on a farm in Britt to Frank and Bessie (Vonasek) Hejlik on November
19, 1929. He attended country school at Britt. Cletus attended Britt High
School for two years, then graduated from St. Procopius College Academy in
Lisle, Illinois. He also attended Britt Junior College for a short time.
Cletus was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. In
1955, after returning to the family farm, he married Adeane Grandgenett of St.
Benedict with whom he shared 38 wonderful years.
Cletus was active in Catholic Workmen, BIDCO, Farm Bureau, Soil and Water
Conservation Commission, and was a charter member of St. Patrick's Council of
the Knight's of Columbus, a Fourth Degree Knight, and a member of Britt American
Legion. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, tennis and being a grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, Adeane; eight children, John and his wife, Becky,
Mike and his wife, Kristi, both of Britt, Joe and his wife, Dawn, and Jeff both
of Rochester, Minnesota, Jim and his wife, Judy of Longmont, Colorado, Diane and
her husband, Daryl Kunkel of Manchester, Iowa, Dee and her husband, Tony Ashpool
of Luton, England, Leann and her husband, Mark Wiggins of Huntington, West
Virginia; five sisters: Betty (Mrs. George) Tlach of Garner, Iowa, Alice
(Mrs.Bill) Martin of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Mildred (Mrs. Don) Neppl of Sarasota,
Florida, Rosie (Mrs. Dave) Tisl of Stuart, Iowa, Theresa (Mrs. Cliff) Doran of
Prescott Valley, Arizona, 15 grandchildren: Andrea, Allison, Amber, Ryan Nick,
Justin, Gabby, Micah, Reed Hejlik, Kara, Kody, Katie Kunkel, Matt and Luke
Wiggins, Kelly McGannon, and many nieces and nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bessie Hejlik.
