Colleen Beukema, 91, of Kanawha passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the
Kanawha Community Home.
Public graveside service will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:30 AM in
Amsterdam Township Cemetery near Kanawha with Pastor Mark Heath officiating.
Those planning to attend the graveside service are invited to bring a lawn
chair. Those in attendance will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines
and encouraged to wear a face covering.
Colleen O'Rae (Keefe) Beukema was born July 19, 1928 to Bernard and Thelma
(McCorkle) Keefe in Algona, Iowa. Colleen's parents divorced when she was very
young, and when her mother married Charles Brown they moved to Perry, Iowa where
Colleen attended Kindergarten. The family then moved to Kanawha where Colleen
completed her education graduating with the class of 1947.
Colleen married George Beukema on March 15, 1947 in Bethany, Missouri, they
lived their entire married life in Kanawha where they raised their two sons,
Michael and Charles Mac. George died in 1989. Colleen was a homemaker who
enjoyed traveling, her flower gardens, and her family. She was a proud member of
the American Legion Auxiliary, Kanawha Ladies Country Club and the Kanawha
United Methodist Women.
Colleen is survived by her sons Mike (Sue) and their sons Bryan and Brent
(Elizabeth); son Mac (Jean) and their daughters Jessie (David) Miller and Lacey
(Mike) Marusienski, along with her great-grandchildren: Zachary Beukema, Hannah,
Luke and Maddie Miller and Jake Marusienski. She is also survived by
sisters-in-law Gayle Beukema and Edythe Beukema, and half brothers and sisters
Jerry, Stan and Joe Keefe, Rosemary DeCamp, Joan Yates, Marilyn Burdick, Shirley
Keefe, Lois Baker and Patty LaHearrn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband George.
