Corey John Miller, the son of John and Kim (Wright) Miller, was born July 12, 1981 in Britt, Iowa. He graduated from Forest City Christian School with the Class of 2000.
During his teen years he took an interest in playing the guitar, being self-taught for the most part, which then progressed into writing music of his own. He was also known to play the drums and participated in a few bands over the years with various friends and acquaintances.
After high school he worked various jobs until he settled into the occupation as a self-employed carpenter and handyman.
Corey had a sense of humor that made people laugh and many Christmases he would come up with the most hilarious gifts. He was also very entertaining to his niece and nephews. He took an interest in science-related news articles and projects, and most recently was experimenting with various inventions he had hopes of developing.
He had a love for animals, having a beloved housecat named Bunny that he took in as a stray. He was sometimes known to scavenger unwanted items off the curb of the street, along with frequenting second-hand stores, with an interest in lamps, mirrors and retro-type furniture.
He had a special way of thinking about the ways of the world and life in general, but clung to the belief that Jesus was his Savior, having acknowledged this through his baptism April 17, 2022 at the Nazarene Church in Britt where he had been attending the last few years.
Many who knew Corey recognized him not only for his humor and talent, but one that had a kind heart with a sweet and gentle soul, not to mention his beautiful blue eyes.
Corey is survived by his parents, John and Kim Miller of Britt; sister, Tracy (Thomas) DeWaard and their children, Ian, Emma and Mason of Scottsdale, Arizona; one aunt, Susan Miller of Britt; two uncles, Mark (Skip) Miller and Jim Miller also both of Britt, along with several cousins.
Corey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mark (Monty) and Mildred Miller and Ward and Betty Wright; two aunts, Sherry Miller and Peg Miller; and one cousin, Dale Johnson.
