Obituary


Craig Boeset, 56 of Storm Lake and formerly of Dows, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home in Storm Lake.

A memorial gathering and celebration of Craig’s life will be held from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Ewing Funeral Home, 114 East Ellsworth in Dows. Family and friends in attendance are asked to wear Detroit Lions or Iowa Hawkeyes gear, or Hawaiian shirts.

Craig was born to Malcom and Linda (Borchardt) Dusheck on November 30, 1966, in Burlington, Iowa.  Craig was adopted by Donald Boeset, and later raised by Raymond Stewart.

Craig attended school in Burlington until moving to Hampton, Iowa, where he graduated with the class of 1985.  He lettered in football and wrestling while in high school, and he enjoyed hunting, bowling and golfing.  He was a loyal Iowa Hawkeyes and Detroit Lions fan.  Craig later graduated from Buena Vista University, the first child in his family to earn a college degree.

Craig was united in marriage to Regina Gaulke on May 11, 1996, at Morgan United Methodist Church in rural Dows, Iowa.  The couple were blessed with three children, Brittany, Erica and Raymond.  Craig loved spending time and attending all his children’s activities and was very involved and proud of all of their accomplishments.

Craig is survived by his wife, Regina, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children Brittany, of Storm Lake, Erica, of Ida Grove, and Raymond, of Dows; Craig is also survived by many of his children’s friends, along with their children, whom he treated like his own children and grandchildren, and who hold a special place in his heart, including Cassie Newman and Sami (fiancé Austin Van Cannon) Tietjens, and many more; grandchildren Patrick and Novaleigh; his parents, Ray and Linda Stewart; his stepmother, Cathy Boeset; his sisters, Kimberly (Neil), Melissa (BJ) and Jennifer Stewart; his brothers, Dave, Doug (Lonna), Tim, Harold (Lynn) and Nick (Reagen); brothers-in-law Van (Ann) Gaulke and Vernon Gaulke; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Craig is preceded in death by both of his fathers, both sets of grandparents, parents-in-law Roger and Ardith Gaulke, and special bonus daughter, Bailey.
