Obituary


Curtis "Bud" Leuwerke, 63, passed away, Thursday, July 23, 1998, at the Muse Norris Inpatient Hospice in Mason City, Iowa.

Curtis, the son of Peter and Grace (Smit) Leuwerke, was born September 11, 1934, at home in Crystal Lake Township.  He grew up near Crystal Lake and attended Hayfield Consolidated School, graduating from high school in 1951.  On November 12, 1954, he was united in marriage with Mary Lee Johnson at the Bethel Baptist Church in Britt.  The couple made their home for a short time in Britt, before moving to his parent's farm in Crystal Township.  They lived on various farms in North Central Iowa before making their home near Joice, Iowa. in 1985.  Curtis was currently working at Winnebago Industries.

Curtis loved farming, he was a true farmer.  He loved spending quality time at Dan's farming operation.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading western novels, and working with wood.  Curtis is remembered as a devoted family man.  He was a member of the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church and was a security guard with EMS Training at Winnebago.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter Kathlene Price and her husband, Brian of Forest City; two sons: Danny and his wife, Kathy Jo of Thompson, and Paul of Joice; nine grandchildren: Bradley, Jeffery, Molly, Jenny, Jessica, Matthew, Andrew, Kristin and Tory; a brother Peter Leuwerke and his wife, Doris of Crystal Lake; a sister Grace Schuver of Kanawha.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gregory in 1980.
