Dale Lee Haugland, the son of Sigurd and Inez (Jacobson) Haugland, was born March 14, 1934 in Story City, Iowa. He grew up in the Story City area and graduated from Story City High School with the class of 1952.

On May 27, 1953, Dale married Joyce Ann Warren in Ames. Dale enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed in Spokane, Washington. He was involved in the Korean War and went overseas to Guam. After he was honorably discharged, the couple moved to Ames, Iowa for a few years before permanently residing in Clarion.

Dale worked for Mueller’s Studio before opening his own studio, Country Reflections in 1985. Photography was his passion; he is in the 4-H Hall of Fame for teaching photography for over 30 years and judging different county fairs, even the State Fair.

When he wasn’t taking pictures, Dale loved to build model airplanes and fly RC planes. He always enjoyed being outside whether it was hunting pheasants, fishing, or various nature trips including many trips to Alaska.

He was an easy going family man and after 50 years of photography he could make anyone smile!

Dale is survived by his sons, Robert Dean of Post Falls, Idaho, Steven Wayne and his wife, Judy, of Clarion, and Brian Keith of Hampton, Iowa; grandchildren Aaron Haugland, Angela (Jeremy) Fishman, Sabrina Haugland, and Leif Haugland, great-grandchildren Connor and Emma Fishman and Sydney and Elijah Haugland; along with many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce in 1992, and son David Lee in 2014.
