Daniel J. Gangestad, age 45, of rural Clarion passed away Thursday, February 15,
2007 at his home after a three year battle with cancer. Dan exemplified quiet
strength.
Daniel John Gangestad, the son of John Irvin and Ella Jane (Marker) Gangestad,
was born December 28, 1961 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He lived his entire life in the
Eagle Grove and Clarion area. He attended Eagle Grove School where he graduated
in 1980. He attended one year at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge
and a winter quarter at Iowa State. He then began his career in farming.
On August 7, 1982 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart,
Patricia "Patty" Johnson at St. John's Catholic Church, Clarion. They made their
home in rural Clarion.
Dan was a life long member of The Holmes Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming,
muscle cars, his motorcycle. old tractors and vehicles of all kinds. He also
enjoyed watching high school wrestling and anything that involved his children.
He also liked relaxing at the lake, at coffee or in the hot tub with family and
friends. He was a loving husband, proud father, wonderful family member and good
friend. He will be deeply missed.
Dan is survived by his wife Patty; sons Ryan of Minneapolis, MN, Grant of Cedar
Falls, IA, Logan of Clarion, daughter Kayla of Clarion; mother Ella Gangestad of
rural Eagle Grove; sister, Jody (Dean) Hamer of Story City; brother , Scott
(Michelle) Gangestad of Clarion; sister Jill (Joe) Bosch of Blairsburg; in-laws,
Jimmie and Colleen Johnson of Clarion; many brothers and sisters-n-law; many
nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Clarence and Tena Gangestad, John and
Dorothy Marker; father; infant son, Joshua Michael Gangestad.
