Obituary
Daniel Ray Chapman, 65, of Des Moines passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Public viewing for Daniel will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Due to social gathering restrictions at this time it is required to call the funeral home (515-532-2233) to schedule a time to pay your final respects. Daughters Andrea and Kim will be present at the viewing. The public graveside service will follow immediately at 3:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Daniel Ray Chapman, son of Gerald and Virginia (Stout) Chapman, was born October 25, 1954. He grew up and attended school in Clarion, graduating with the Clarion High School class of 1972.
He was united in marriage to Kelly Myers on July 23, 1977. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Andrea and Kim. Kelly passed away in 1983. Daniel then relocated to Des Moines, and eventually retired from Mid America in 2016. Daniel enjoyed his first winter as a snowbird in Mesa, Arizona.
Fishing was a favorite pastime of Dan’s, and he also enjoyed camping. He enjoyed sports, always rooting for his St. Louis Cardinals and his Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed driving around and exploring new places. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.
Daniel is survived by his daughters Andrea (Kyle Anderson) Chapman, and Kim (Derrick) Sears; grandsons Evin and Jackson Sears; siblings Sandy Malaise, Marilyn Kastler, Beth (Randy) Hilpipre, Robert (Gloria) Chapman, David (Susie) Chapman, and Jerry (Starla) Chapman; sisters-in-law Judy Chapman and Terri (Rick) Kelling; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kelly, his parents, sister Pat Hernandez, brother Ron Chapman, and brothers-in-law Tom Malaise and Bob Kastler.
