Darla Fay, daughter of Robert and Alta (Julius) Counsell, was born on July 13,
1956 in Osage. Darla grew up in Little Cedar and graduated from Osage High
School in 1974.
In 1975, Darla was united in marriage to Robert Jacobs. They made their home in
Belmond where they raised their two daughters. In 1997, Darla was united in
marriage to Darrell Kelley.
While Christina and Crystal were growing up, Darla stayed home with them during
the day and worked at Cattleman's in the evenings. She later worked at the Amaco
Station, Jerry's Place, and retired from the Iowa Specialty Hospital.
Darla had a huge heart and would help anyone, she especially loved her job at
the hospital for that reason. She loved to socialize and have coffee with her
friends. She enjoyed being outside.
Darla's family was most important to her. Her grandchildren were her number one
priority and loved spending time with each of them. She enjoyed going back to
Little Cedar to visit her family there.
Darla is survived by her daughters Christina Noah (Chris) of Belmond and Crystal
Jacobs of Alexander; grandchildren MaKayla Noah, Jacob Noah, Erik Cruz Carmona,
and Tyler Cruz Carmona; sisters Debra (Dennis) Conrad of Little Cedar and Donna
(Ray) Hanson of Little Cedar; nephews Lonnie Conrad, Michael Hanson, and Jason
Hanson; and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Darrell Kelley in 2007; and her parents.
