Darlene E. (Boone) Balsar

Darlene E. Balsar, 86, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in Mason City.

Memorial services for Darlene Balsar will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Clarion Church of Christ, 420 North Main Street in Clarion, with Pastor Warren Curry officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held prior to services at the church on Monday, beginning at 9:00 AM.

Darlene was born on June 21, 1929 in Dows, Iowa, to Luke and Alma (King) Boone.  She was educated in Dows, and graduated from Dows High School in 1946.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth Lloyd Balsar from Quincy, Illinois on December 11, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Darlene and her husband Ken were in the restaurant business for 35 years in Clarion and the surrounding area.  She was an active member of the Clarion Church of Christ, serving on many committees.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Ken in 1992; her father and mother; two brothers, Chessle Boone and Luke Llewellyn Boone; and three sisters, Bonnie Osborne, Bessie Ritter, and Verla Lundahl.

She leaves to mourn nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
