Obituary


Darlene M. Lehman, 84 of Clarion passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at MercyOne North Hospice in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion with Pastor Nicole Woodley presiding. Private interment at a later date.

 Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Ewing Funeral Home.

Darlene Mae Martin, daughter of Dorothy (Newman) and Alvin Martin was born on August 6, 1935 in Lake Crystal, Minnesota.  She grew up in the area with her five siblings and later graduated from the local high school.

On September 5, 1953 Darlene was united in marriage to Albert Lehman in Lake Crystal, Minnesota.  To this union seven children were born.

Darlene and her family lived in several Minnesota cities and later moved to the Dows and Clarion, Iowa area.  Darlene enjoyed fishing and metal detecting with Albert.  She was busy with the children, an avid gardener with vegetables, flowers and her roses. Darlene loved feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in the yard and all outdoors.  Some of her favorite games were Solitaire, Word Search and jigsaw puzzles.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Clarion and she enjoyed visiting her Minnesota family and keeping in touch through Christmas cards. Darlene was especially proud of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.

Darlene is survived by her children: Jeremy Lehman of El Paso, Texas; Cindy (Steve) Schaffer of Algona; Kathryn (Jim) Radke of Clarion; Albert Jr. (Anna) Lehman of Wales, Michigan; Arthur (Katie) Lehman of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Evelyn (Randy) Harmon of Ashland, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister Sharon Peterson of Mankato, Minnesota; in-laws Karl (Phyllis) Lehman, Mary Lehman, Ardis Moy and Janet Martin all of Minnesota; plus many nieces and nephews.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; son Jess; two grandchildren; sister Phyllis Williams, brothers Dennis, Leon and Barry Martin.
