Darlene J. (Evans) Watts, 90, of Waukee and formerly of Clarion, passed away
Sunday, January 31, 2021 The Village at Legacy Point in Waukee.
Funeral services for Darlene Watts will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at
12:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Burial
will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 10:00 – 12:00 PM at the
funeral home.
Darlene Janice, daughter of O. Alger and Myrtle (Crane) Evans, was born on
January 3, 1931 in Dows. Darlene grew up in Eagle Grove. She graduated from
Eagle Grove High school in 1949. On April 2, 1952, Darlene was united in
marriage to Donald Watts. The couple made their home in Clarion where they
raised their two daughters. Darlene worked as a telephone operator in Clarion
and later was a secretary at Farm Bureau. When Darlene was 50, she obtained her
real estate and brokerage license and sold trusts and insurance. She was proud
to be a business woman in Clarion. Darlene loved doing craft projects, knitting
and sewing. She enjoyed playing a round of golf or cards with friends. Darlene
loved to shop, especially for shoes and Christmas gifts. Her family was
important to her and she loved spending time with her children and
grandchildren. After Don's passing in 2009, Darlene moved to Waukee to be closer
to family. Darlene is survived by her two daughters Debra Locke of Omaha,
Nebraska and Vicki (Lynn) Erickson of Waukee; five grandchildren Jessica
(Dinand), Jeanette (Robert), Abby (Zachary), Emily, and Sophie; and four
great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Don; parents Alger
and Myrtle; son-in-law Robert Locke; and three siblings.
