Darrell D. Borgelt, 56, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly on
Thursday, September 14, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at
Ewing Funeral Home, 114 East Ellsworth in Dows. Visitation will be held from
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Ewing Funeral Home, 114 East
Ellsworth in Dows.
Darrell was born August4, 1967 to Robert and Camilla (Marr) Borgelt in Blair,
Nebraska. He attended country school in Scribner, Nebraska until the family
moved to the Blair Farm in March 1976. Darrell graduated from Blair High School
in 1985.
Darrell married the love of his life, Renee (Claude) Borgelt, on March 6, 1993.
He was blessed with five children: Brittany, Mandi, Ann, Jacob, and Sara.
Over the years, Darrell and Renee resided in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and
Idaho. But he considered South Dakota home. Darrell was passionate about his
family, fishing, and driving truck. He was a hard worker and loved providing for
his family.
Darrell and Renee enjoyed traveling as often as they could. They enjoyed
spending time at the ocean and being with family. Darrell loved being a papa and
everything that that entailed. He had a great personality and everyone loved
him. He will be dearly missed by everyone he touched.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Renee and his children Brittany of
Dows, Iowa, Mandi of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jacob (Nicole) of Rapid City,
South Dakota, and Sara (Jo) of Rapid City, South Dakota; parents Robert (Trisha)
Borgelt of Blair, Nebraska and Camilla Borgelt of Blair, Nebraska; mother-in-law
Viola Claude of Dows, Iowa; father-in-law Ron (Eileen) Claude of Novinger,
Missouri; brother Doug Borgelt of Cambridge, Minnesota; sisters Barb (Tony)
Strong of Omaha, Nebraska and Susie Borgelt of Blair, Nebraska; brothers-in-law
Rodney (Pam) Claude of Dows, Iowa, Jay (Kim) Claude of Dows, Iowa, Trent Claude
of Dows, Iowa, Matt (Heather) Claude of Madrid, Iowa, Nathan (Danielle) Claude
of Ankeny, Iowa, and Josh (Chelsea) Claude of Bondurant, Iowa; and eight
beautiful grandchildren Noah, Mason, Faith Ann, Savana, Elliot, Isabelle,
Oakleigh, Tanner, and Baby #10 on the way.
Darrell was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred and Hulda (Suhr) Borgelt
and Clarence and Annie (Sondreal) Marr; daughter Ann Marie Borgelt; and grandson
Xavier Borgelt.
