A Time of Celebration and Remembrance was held for the life of David Assink on Saturday, January 27, 2010.  David passed away unexpectedly at his home in Britt on December 7, 2009. He was born November 5, 1950, to George and Vivian Assink.  He grew up on the Kanawha family farm and was involved with 4-H activities.  Following his graduation from high school, David moved to California for one year and then moved to Virginia where he landed a job with Allegheny Airlines.  He stayed with them through a couple of buy-outs by other airlines. He then moved to Minneapolis where he continued to work with the airlines.  An on-the-job injury forced him to retire from the airlines. Following his recovery, David worked miscellaneous jobs at various warehouse positions. He moved to Britt this summer and died unexpectedly in his new home. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Kimmie and Jessie, and Kimmie's fiance, Jeremy Johnson.  His precious grandchildren - David and Lucas Johnson and Benjamin and Kirsten Webb will miss him dearly.  He also leaves his brother, Gary, of Wisconsin, and his stepmother, Rosemary Assink of Corwith. David was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian, and brothers - Duane, Rodney, and Ronald.
