David D. Dorr, 77, of Belmond, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Iowa
Specialty Hospital in Belmond.
Graveside services for David Dorr will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2:00
PM at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Belmond, with Father Jerry Blake
officiating.
David Duane, son of Leo A. and Helen (Kelly) Dorr, was born in Anamosa, Iowa on
February 17, 1941. David attended Belmond Community Schools and was baptized and
confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He started working at a young
age doing construction work for his dad's construction company and King
Construction in Iowa Falls. He later worked at Lloyds Standard and Ford Motor.
In 1970, David started working at Kinseth Plumbing and Heating until his
retirement in 2003. The Kinseth group was his second family and taught him
everything in the business.
On December 5, 1992, David was united in marriage to Wanda Saylor at The Little
Brown Church in Nashua.
After retirement, David loved to do woodworking. He enjoyed traveling to
Minnesota and Canada with family and friends for fishing trips. David was a
member of the Jaycees and the Belmond Fire Department.
David is survived by his wife Wanda; son Mark (Tonia) Dorr, step-son Kirk
Saylor, step-daughter Kari (Shannon) Sanders; two grandchildren Christopher Dorr
and Chloe (Joe) Tully, five step-grandchildren Devon Cline, Mason Saylor,
Katelyn and Maggie Saylor, and Cayden Sanders; and many other family and
friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; two
sisters Colleen (Doug) Walrod and Donna (Dave) Robertson; and two brothers
Eugene Dorr and Leo (Kathy) Dorr Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gateway Hospice.
