Obituary
David Lee Hix, 57, of Britt passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic in Iowa City.
David, the son of Art and Alice (Smith) Hix, was born July 12, 1949 in Estherville, Iowa. He grew up in the Sexton area and attended Algona High School. David later worked construction before entering the United States Army and serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
David was united in marriage with Leann Lowell in 1996 in Duncan, Iowa. The couple made their home in Britt where David was a semi owner/operator, leasing his trucks to RE Monson & Sons, Inc. David loved to spend time with his family especially, his children and grandchildren; he thoroughly enjoyed the trucks, cars, motorcycles, and pickups that came and went throughout his life.
He was a member of the American Legion in Merrill, Iowa.
David is survived by his wife, Leann of Britt; seven children: Ashley Hix of Phoenix City, Alabama, Chad Hix of Portland, Oregon, David Hix, Jr. of Britt, Misty (Pat) Lowell of Janesville, Wisconsin, April Lowell of Britt, Tracy (Terry) Lowell of Britt, Michael (Desirae) Lowell of Mason City; 12 grandchildren: Levi, McCain, Ashley Marie, Rya, Keri, Noah, Nora, Mindy, Anthony, Allison, Cassie, Spencer; his father Art (Joyce) Hix of Fenton; 5 sisters and brothers: Sharon (Doug) Marty of Algona, George (Cindy) Hix of Algona, Duane (Sandy) Hix of Algona, JoAnn (Dennis) Johansen of Algona, Janett (Michael) Kline of Algona; step sisters and brothers: Dennis (Cindy) Anderson, Diane (Gene) Dalhauser, Duane (Becky) Anderson, Beth (Jeff) Fehr, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Hix, daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Tony Hurbert.
