David L. Nelson

David Lee Nelson, 51, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 1996, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.

David was born December 31, 1944, at Forest City, Iowa, to James and Myrtle (Olson) Nelson.  David was bapitzed and confirmed at the Crystal Lake Methodist Church.  He was a 1963 graduate of Woden-Crystal Lake High School.  He attended Waldorf College at Forest City graduating in 1965.  He also attended Mankato State College pursuing his interest in art.

On May 22, 1971, he was united in marriage to Sondra Ehrich at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Blue Earth, Minnesota.  One son was born to them - Erik. After his marriage he worked at the family grocery.  He and his family later moved to Mankato, Minnesota and then returned to Crystal Lake.

David was always interested in art and collecting antiques.  He thought very highly of his wife and son.  He was a devoted husband and father, taking care of his wife during her illness.  David and Erik were very close after the passing of Sondra.  He will be missed by his family  and friends, especially Erik.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra on January 1, 1992, and his mother Myrtle on June 3, 1987.

He is survived by his son Erik, of Crystal Lake; his father, James of Crystal Lake; a sister, Marilyn Bjornsen of Decorah; a brother, James of Crystal Lake; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leona and Don Tesch of Blue Earth, MN; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Anderson and Linda Crombie both of Northfield, MN; two nieces, Diane Martin of Mason City, Iowa. and Sonja Dolan of Minneapolis, MN; one nephew, Randy Bjornsen of Hillsborn, WI.
