David L. Wiemann
David L. Wiemann, 77, of Indianola and formerly of Alexander, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at The Good Samaritan Society in Indianola.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond. Burial will follow at the Alexander Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday.
David Lee Wiemann, the son of John and Bena (Olsen) Wiemann, was born on April 2, 1941 on a family farm near Alexander, Iowa. He was the sixth child out of ten children.
David grew up and received his education in Alexander and graduated with the class of 1959. After high school, David enlisted into the United States Army.
He served a total of 14 years, including on bases in the United States, Europe, and Vietnam. David’s service included serving as a platoon sergeant. He was very proud to serve his country.
David married Gloria Lesher at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, two daughters were born. The couple later divorced.
Some fond family memories are traveling all over Europe, including going all the way to Switzerland, down to Italy, and back.
David is survived by his daughters Starla (Jerry) Chapman and their children Jennifer (Chase) Mikehl and Michael (Jessie) Chapman, and Denise “Susie” (Dave) Chapman and their children Shaun Chapman and Jessica (Kolby) Hamilton; great-grandchildren Bryson, Kinley, Kieranne (Kipi), Caellum, Jackson, and Averie; six siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and ex-wife Arlene Wiemann.
