Duane "Dean" Donald Kiefer Jr., 62, of Belmond gained his wings on Friday,
January 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Dean was born on April 22, 1959 to Duane Donald Kiefer Sr. and Judy Kay Kiefer
in Des Moines.
Dean was the eldest of eight children. Dean grew up mostly in north central
Iowa. He attended Belmond High School until the age of 17, when he went to work
for his Uncle Arden Kiefer as a welder at Kiefer Built in Kanawha.
Dean met his first daughter, Michelle, when she was 2 years old. They rekindled
when she was 13.
Dean was united in marriage to Talana Rale Wood on September 9, 1979 in Clarion.
Dean and Talana were blessed with three daughters.
Dean built hog confinements before finally retiring.
Dean loved spending time with family and tinkering with things.
Dean loved his music. He was a big fan of AC/DC. He loved going to thrift shops
and riding his motorcycle back when he had one.
Dean is survived by his mother Judy of Belmond; children Michelle (Jeff) of
Mason City, Crystal Cook of Iowa, Sherry Kiefer of Algona, and Holly (Luke) of
Mason City; siblings Angel (Keith) of Klemme, David of Corwith, Joe (Tina) of
Forest City, Aaren of Mason City, Nick of Belmond, and Mike of Mason City; bonus
brother Randy Mills of Belmond; bonus daughter Krissy Blakely of Mason City; 11
grandchildren; one great-grandson; nine nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces
and nephews; and his ex-wife Talana Mattoon of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Donald.
