Deborah L. Lauifi, 69, of Britt, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at her home
in Britt.
Funeral Services for Deborah Lauifi will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at
2:30 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel 178 Center Street West in Britt, Iowa.
Visitation for Deborah will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral
chapel on Saturday.
Deborah Lorraine (Grandon) Lauifi, the daughter of Donald and Avonelle (Schmidt)
Grandon, was born December 25, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa. She grew up there and
graduated from East High School with the class of 1972.
After high school, Deb attended Waterloo School of Men's Hair and became a
certified barber. She worked in barber shops in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
She was in a relationship with Gene Edgington and to this union their son,
Nathaniel Derek Edgington was born. After Gene passed, she met Malaesala Lauifi
in California, and the couple was married in 1991 and became a family of seven.
Deb and her husband Malaesala moved to Iowa in 1996 and Deb became a caregiver
at OneVision for 20 years.
In her free time, Deb loved to plant flowers, visit the ocean, take care of her
pets, and send care packages to her grandchildren in Washington.
She will be missed for her relaxed, fun and loving ways.
She is survived by her daughter Vaitulia Lauifi of Britt and her children Lashae
and Jacob King, son Tumuafetalai (Eseta) Lei of Tacoma, Washington and their
children Hayven, Hannah, Henry, Holland, and Harmony Lei, daughter Olivia (Don
Blackburn) Lauifi of Spanaway, Washington and her son Malaesala Lauifi, daughter
Leamanaia (Mathew) Lauifi-Leatiota of Tacoma, Washington and their children
Mataio, Manaialelagi, Malana, Malina Leatiota, daughter Penny (Masi)
Lauifi-Sialega of Lakewood, Washington and children TJ, Tulialagi, Tysen and
Tristan Sialega; her mother Avonelle Grandon; siblings Kim (John) Rice, Jeff
(Valarie) Grandon, and Mike Grandon along with many nieces, nephews and extended
family.
She was preceded in death by her father Donald Grandon, Gene Edgington, son
Nathan Edgington, husband Malaesala Lauifi, sister Justine Hickey.
