Delores M. (Sturgeon) Johnson

Delores M. Johnson, 75, of Kanawha passed away Thursday, January 20, 2000 at the Kanawha Community Home.

Delores was born on October 19, 1924 in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Florence (Trowbridge) Sturgeon.  She graduated from Belmond High School in 1942.  Delores was united in marriage to Gaylen D. Johnson on November 6, 1943 in Belmond, Iowa.  They resided in Belmond until 1954 when they moved to Kanawha to farm.

Delores worked at Winnebago Industries and then at Farmers State Bank until she retired in June of 1987.  Her favorite hobbies were cooking and baking, along with bowling, playing cards, and dancing.  She also was an active member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church.

Delores is survived by her husband Gaylen of Kanawha; two daughters, Angela Strege and her husband, Kevin of Bakersfield, California and Andrea Mallen of Mason City and her special friend, Denny Honsey of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one son Todd Johnson of Buffalo Center; one daughter-in-law Sherry Johnson of Kanawha; five grandchildren, Travis and his wife, Sue of Grimes, Chad of West Des Moines and his fiancee Steph of Belmond, Jade of Clinton, Mitchell of Buffalo Center, Jacey of Britt; one great-grandson Drew; two sisters Henrietta Jenison of Belmond and June Deiser and her husband, George of Owatonna, Minnesota; one sister-in-law Mabel Sturgeon of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, one son Tony Johnson, one great-grandson Jordan Chase Johnson, two brothers Dale Sturgeon and Gene Sturgeon; three sisters Elizabeth Langland, Lucille White, and Marjorie Riegal.
